The more work and personal exploration I’ve done in the years that I have been a wedding photographer, the more and more excited I became about shooting weddings that were out of the box - ones that show off my couples unique/adventurous/creative personalities. You want cocktail hour before the ceremony so everyone can have a hand crafted drink in hand before you officially tie the knot? Yes please (shoutout to Emily + Zach!!).

This year, I have shot weddings where they did away with sit down dinners and had food trucks, I have shot a wedding in Taylors Falls where everything was put together by their family - I was the only non family vendor. And again going back to Emily and Zach’s wedding…they are amazing graphic designers and designed and then 3D printed about 100 flower vases for their reception tables. These wedding with a bit of personality are what makes my heart SING! I am all about them. And they are SO beautiful!

So, when Casey and I first began planning our wedding - I was set on having a wedding on doing things our way. In my head - I imagined a beautiful mountain during sunset somewhere with 10 people, but the more we got to thinking, the more we liked the idea of having 75 of our closest family members at our wedding.

So we booked the last weekend Gooseberry Fall State Parks group camp was available this summer, and had a Midsummer Festival/Camping themed wedding. I wore a blue dress, Casey picked out his outfit without my help and kept it a surprise till our first look at our wedding, and we really just danced and danced the day away. We did away with some traditions that didn’t mean much to us - like a grand march, a white wedding dress, etc..and the rest we just did in a way that felt good to us!

We hired the beautiful Haley Bateman as our wedding videographer - and her video makes me tear up and laugh and smile every time I watch it. Let me tell you - she has an artistic eye in shooting video that is unlike any I have ever seen and she’s the type of person that you want to add to your best friend list. I’m rooting for all of my 2020 couples book her ;)
